Through The Glass Darkly

January 8, 2021

I see a lot of the same customers all the time. I have a unique window into people’s lives ringing up their groceries every week. I have a customer who always buys pudding, and a customer who buys flowers for her partner every friday, and many customers who shop for their parents or neighborhood that can’t come out because of the pandemic. The new customers I see a lot these days are instacart shoppers. We had them before the pandemic, but nowdays I see them a lot. A lot of them work with their kids or they work in groups and they shop at all kinds of stores. I don’t think there is a lot of money in it, but I can’t help but think how resilient people are to do that kind of job. No matter what people figure out a way to make it.
