Through The Glass Darkly

NaPoWriMo Notebook

Your image never fades from my minds eye …

It repeats like a scratch in an old 45

Burned into my memory with every sigh

_________

Your silhouette,

Your smile

Your awkward words made idealized

Your strong hands made calloused by holding your own heart to high

It repeats like a scratch in an old 45

Burned into my memory with every sigh

_________

Imperfections only enhance your strength and perception

You learned to walk on the broken shards that were once beating hearts

You have learned what words to avoid and what words to wash, rinse, and repeat

Because life is like that at times,

painful, short, and bittersweet

It repeats like a scratch in an old 45

Burned into my memory with every sigh

_________

I have wandered through that dream a million times

Your smile at my smile,

Your laugh at my laugh

That glimmer of connection in our meeting eyes

Maybe it was there, or maybe I just saw what I wanted to find

It repeats like a scratch in an old 45

Burned into my memory with every sigh

_________

I have become as familiar with your imperfections as I am with mine

Speculations

Inflections

Tried and true deflections

Too much introspection

Like someday you are going to ask me to tell you my side

Your not

No one ever listens to the B side

It repeats like a scratch in an old 45

Burned into my memory with every sigh

_________

As the Sun always follows the Moon, and the Moon always follows the Sun

The world keeps on spinning and spinning

I will hear that song forever …

If only in my minds eye

Maybe there is no ending and the meaning is in its repetition? Its speaks to me as it is, and happiness or sadness, like beauty is in the heart/eye of the beholder… You are a wordsmith of note!

It will be nice to have the separate ending to keep the readers in suspense :-)
