Wham! Bam! Poetry Slam!
Snite Museum of Art in South Bend, Indiana
I recently went to my first poetry slam. It was held at the Snite Museum of Art in South Bend, Indiana. I froze and it was completely awkward, and yes, very uncomfortable, but I did see and meet some incredibly talented artists. Here are some of the videos that came out of that event. Thankfully none are me freezing like a deer in the headlights, they are all awesome. I look forward to the next slam, and I have been told it is being planned right now.
Cherri Peate
Lonnie Ray Atkinson
Billy Easton
Jake Webster
Irinka
Andrew Jackson
Excellent!

Dear Betty, if there are ribbons, I’d pin one on Andrew…unless you, and most of us get over stage fright.

He was amazing. I can’t imagine remembering all that, or even writing all that. It was a great poem. I spoke to him and allot of the poets after the slam, and they could all relate to being nervous. Everyone there was very supportive. It was a really amazing night.

Hi Betty! I was at the 2016 slam, and I thought you were fantastic, despite all the freezing. I had Coleen Hoover forward you an e-mail from me. I wanted to interview some of the participants for my all-ladies book review/interview site, Grab the Lapels. If you’re interested, I’m at decadent.page@gmail.com If not, that’s fine, too! Hope to see you next year! Also, Lonnie is moving to the other side of the country, so no more “Check Your Tags” from him. He does perform at The Drop comedy club in South Bend, though.
